The Importance of a Skin Care Regimen

When I was a teenager I had horrible skin. Acne, redness, dry skin, etc… I had it all. I know now that there was a secret to having good, or at least mostly clear skin. It took me a while to keep the acne down and even now I still get acne, but I know now even how to keep it at a minimum. What I may tell you will probably change the way you think about your skin.

Choosing a cleanser

This is actually more important than you think. Most cleansers you can choose for oily, dry, or normal. You usually know if you have what kind of skin by the feel of it. Whatever skin you have it’s still important to take care of it. Yes, even if you don’t have skin problems now. It can go a long way. Think more about what your skin will look like 10 years down the road. Your skin will appreciate the time and care you give it.

Mistakes most people make about moisturizer

What most people don’t understand is that you need moisturizer. I know what you are thinking though: “I already have oily skin.” That’s why your skin is oily! Your skin is working overtime after you cleanse your skin because you aren’t putting any oils back into it! So it’s work overtime and overproducing its oil glands and then you still end up with clogged pores!
So my recommendation is always use a moisturizer after you cleanse.

Use the same brand

Use preferably the same brand of skin care products. The chemical makeup in one brand is most likely way different than another one. You can test different brands and you’ll find what suits you. I use Aveeno, but it may not work for you. We are all different and so is our skin. I believe the reason that Proactive works for most people is that it is a skin regimen. It never worked for me myself though because my skin is different than others.

What is so important about toner?

I used to ask myself this exact question until it was later explained to me in Cosmetology school. You know when your skin gets blotchy and sometimes shows different shades in a certain light? That is your skin tone. A toner evens your skin tone, making it all a similar color so you don’t get that blotchy look in pictures. It’s also good for closing your pores. If you can stand the smell a good natural toner that I use is Apple Cider Vinegar.

Washing your face in hot or cold water

When cleansing your face use should use warm water. It opens your pores so you can clean the dirt out of them. This is important to do to avoid acne, because that is what acne is caused by. When rinsing off your cleanser you should use cold water to close pores. It makes it harder for dirt to get in them and makes your skin look nice and tight. I hate when my pores show and you see little holes in a certain light.

Exfoliating your skin

Now from my own personal experience this does do very good for your skin though I wouldn’t overdue it. Exfoliating is taking the dead skin off your face. It does help in also making your skin look more youthful and showing the nicer looking skin beneath. I prefer only doing this once a week. Exfoliating itself can cause redness if done too much, so don’t throw it off altogether if you’ve had a bad experience with it. You most likely used it one too many times.

Whatever skin you have it is important to take care of it. In the long run you will look better and feel better. It also helps to make your makeup go on more evenly. I was taught in Cosmetology school that if you leave your make up on all night it takes years off your face so be sure to take off your makeup before you go to bed. I hope I helped! What to Consider Before Going To Cosmetology School

If you are thinking of going to Cosmetology school soon you need to outweigh your pros and cons of having this as a career and deciding if it is really what you would like to do every day as a job.  Read this article from someone who has been there and back so you don’t have to decide without proper information on what goes on in the field of Cosmetology.

Do you really want Cosmetology as your career?

 Is beauty your passion?

Do you like to serve others?

Can you work well with other women?

Do you like being on your feet a majority of the day?

These are questions you should ask yourself before you consider Cosmetology as your career. Beauty is the big lesson of cosmetology. You will learn beauty on the inside as well as out. You will learn all aspects and ethics of Cosmetology in this field. You will learn how to serve other people on a daily basis and will need to be able to work with other women in a Salon setting. You will also have to be prepared to be on your feet a majority of the day walking back and forth to serve your clientele.

Cons:

Dealing with Clients:

Dealing with clients will be a huge part of what you will be doing in Cosmetology as well as in the school itself. The Cosmetology school will have a Salon addition where people will come to have their services for cheaper or be willing to volunteer as a guinea pig for the sake of your education. Here also you will learn how to be courteous and kind to your clientele. This will be a big part of learning to get your own clientele when you finish your schooling. You must be able to deal also with elderly clients who may have certain health conditions such as brittle nails and frail hair. All this will be part of your training.

Dealing with other students:

In Cosmetology school you will have to be in a classroom or the Salon with a number of other students. Sometimes they can cause problems and you have to deal with them. Some of the problems will be dealing with other women. As you know women are known to cause drama with other women. The first month I was in Cosmetology school there was a fight that broke out between two women. You have to learn to keep your head out of drama and not to cause problems with our students. You are there to learn and not to socialize. You can make friends though that will last a lifetime even if some of those friends decide on a different career paths. Some students even decide to go into business together.

 Dealing with high pressure situations:

Sometimes in Cosmetology school there will be other things than drama to put your nerves on edge. One of them will be other clients that sometimes will complain about your work. Other times it will be things like tests and finals. Your final exams are very nerve wracking.  Practicals are one exam that you will not be able to look into a mirror while you complete them in case students try to cheat by looking at other students. One good piece of advice is to do your tests as soon as you complete your training. The more time that you put them off, the more you can forget information or decide not to go at all.

Pros:

You will have lots of fun:

You can learn different beauty skills such as nails, hair, facials, and skin care. You will learn different situations and how to deal with them in the right way. This includes anything from social situations to unsatisfied clientele. You will learn how to serve clients with a proper attitude and learn to have fun doing it. Cosmetology is a service and therefor something you do for other people. Serving other people can be fun and rewarding.

Learning new things:

You will be given projects to work on in the classroom. One of them is to design your own salon where you come up with the name and draw what you would like to put in a salon if you owned it. Projects can be very creative. You will also be able to perform services on other students. This can be fun because you can get your hair colored or nails done for free and it will still be considered a learning experience. Sometimes you will have special guests or visitors of a certain salon come into your school. They will even bring products and samples for you to try.

Deciding what field you would prefer to work in:

You will probably start out learning all different services, but you will most likely pick one that will appeal to you and that you wouldn't mind doing on a daily basis. You may decide to nails which include manicures, pedicures, and doing acrylics. You can cut hair in different ways and style it to make it looks attractive. You can dye hair using different colors and formulas. You can choose to do makeup and learn what colors complement your skin tone or eye color. You can do facials and learn how to take care of skin. Whatever you decide to do, Cosmetology is a huge field in which to choose your career.

Cosmetology school can be bad and good in a variety of ways. I have described the main points. I hope you find your passion in whatever career you choose. The path is up to you. Just make sure you have the attitude and passion for whatever you do.  I hope I have helped you in what you were looking to achieve and what you were wondering about Cosmetology school.
